DART made several changes to bus service on Sunday, November 24, 2024. The changes included:

Discontinuing the D-Line downtown shuttle

Adjusting how often Local Route 15 runs on weekends

Moving a portion of Local Route 17 in Altoona and making changes to the route schedule

Reducing how often Local Route 52 runs on weekdays

Moving a portion of Local Route 74 in Urbandale
D-Line
DART discontinued the D-Line downtown shuttle because ridership on the route has not increased like other routes since the pandemic and some funding specific for operating the D-Line is no longer available.
The final day of D-Line service was Saturday, November 23.
D-Line riders can use several other routes to travel through downtown Des Moines. Local Routes 1, 4 and 10 each offer service in the East Village and Local Routes 11 and 60 offer service on the west side of downtown Des Moines. Riders can reach the Iowa State Capitol directly by riding Local Route 1 or 4 and exiting the bus at a stop along E. Grand Avenue, between E. 9th Street and E. 12th Street.

Local Routes 4 & 5
There were minor time changes on Local Routes 4 and 5 to help keep buses running on schedule.
Local Route 15
Local Route 15 now runs hourly on Saturdays and Sundays, rather than every 30 minutes. This change matches the schedules of other routes that have a similar number of people riding on weekends.
Local Route 17
The portion of Local Route 17 previously on 36th Avenue in Altoona moved to 34th Avenue SW. This change will hopefully allow DART to build a bus shelter at the Walmart stop in the future and better connect the route to Adventureland Drive. New bus stops were added to 34th Avenue SW and bus stops along 36th Avenue were removed.
The Route 17 schedule also changed so that all trips travel a complete route to either Altoona or Bondurant. There are no longer any trips that end at E. 26th and Euclid in Des Moines. Finally, Route 17 now runs every 45 minutes on Saturdays to meet demand for this service.
Local Route 52
Local Route 52 now runs every 40 minutes on weekdays, rather than every 30 minutes, to help buses stay on schedule as traffic along the route increases. There were also minor schedule changes on weekends.
Local Route 74
The portion of Local Route 74 previously on 114th Street in Urbandale moved to 112th Street, allowing the bus to turn left onto Meredith Dr. at a traffic light rather than from a stop sign during periods of heavy traffic. This change will improve safety for drivers and passengers. New bus stops were added to 112th Street and bus stops along 114th Street were removed.
